I consider myself to be active. I exercise a few times a week and walk regularly. Throughout the week, I attend yoga classes and use therapeutic massage balls.  Although I get some temporary relief, my flexibility still doesn't match my expectations. My goal is to play golf and pickleball regularly, so I wonder if you could help me improve my flexibility. Please let me know what you think would be most helpful to get these areas back to normal.

In my treatment plan, I would start with 30 minutes of Active Release Techniques (ART) followed by 1 hour of Neuromuscular Massage. During the ART process, the practitioner will assess the soft tissues in the area by feeling and evaluating them. This helps identify whether the issue involves muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, or nerves. By assessing the texture, tightness, and movement, the practitioner can determine which tissues need the most attention. This focused approach helps relieve specific adhesions or congestion in the affected tissues.  

When someone chooses Active Release Techniques (ART), they aim to restore the normal elasticity and function of their soft tissues. This not only helps reduce pain but also improves physical performance.

 

 

 

 

ART can treat various conditions, including overuse injuries, strains, sprains, repetitive strain injuries, nerve entrapments, and postural problems.

ART works deeply and specifically on soft tissues, releasing waste from the cells it treats. This triggers the body's immune system, causing white blood cells to move to the area and consume the debris, resulting in localized inflammation. During an ART session, the intensity of the treatment can temporarily worsen symptoms before improvement occurs, much like demolishing an old house to build a new, better one.

We recommend following up with a Neuromuscular Massage to improve circulation and help flush toxins through the lymphatic system to be eliminated by the body's natural defenses. This type of massage also helps reduce muscle spasms, increase range of motion, and release trigger points that can cause referred pain in other parts of the body.

After an ART session, a Neuromuscular Massage can help restore the nervous system's activity. Using specific techniques to activate the parasympathetic system, the therapist can induce calmness and relaxation, further promoting healing.
